Getting Started

How KidsCode Gift works and what to expect

Welcome to KidsCode Gift

Watch our platform introduction and see what your child can build.

KidsCode Gift is an AI-powered STEM coding platform designed for kids ages 7–16. Unlike generic coding apps, KidsCode Gift combines structured curriculum with a safe, COPPA-compliant environment where children build real games, websites, and apps — and parents can track every milestone.

Whether you're gifting a coding subscription to a grandchild, enrolling your child in a school program, or exploring coding for the first time, KidsCode Gift makes it simple, safe, and genuinely educational.

Structured curriculum from beginner to advanced
AI tutor with content filtering for kid-safe assistance
Real programming languages: Scratch, JavaScript, Python, HTML/CSS
Parent dashboard with progress tracking and milestone cards
COPPA-compliant — no ads, no data selling, no social feeds
Portfolio of real projects kids can share with family and schools

How the Platform Works

A step-by-step overview of the learning journey.

KidsCode Gift follows a proven 4-stage learning path designed by educators and tested with hundreds of students:

**Stage 1: Foundation (Weeks 1–4)** Kids start with visual block-based coding (Scratch-style) to learn fundamental concepts: sequences, loops, conditionals, and events. By the end of this stage, they've built their first interactive animation.

**Stage 2: Text-Based Coding (Weeks 5–12)** Students transition to real programming languages. They learn JavaScript and Python through guided projects — building games, calculators, and interactive stories. The AI tutor provides hints and explanations in kid-friendly language.

**Stage 3: Real Projects (Weeks 13–24)** Kids build portfolio-worthy projects: a personal website, a playable game, a data visualization. Each project is published to their portfolio with a shareable link.

**Stage 4: Advanced Topics (Ongoing)** For kids who want more: web development, game design, AI fundamentals, and app building. The curriculum adapts to each child's pace and interests.

For Parents

Parent dashboard, progress tracking, and account management

Parent Dashboard Guide

Track your child's progress, view projects, and manage your account.

The Parent Dashboard is your window into your child's coding journey. Here's what you can do:

**Progress Tracking** See which lessons your child has completed, their current level, and how much time they've spent learning. The dashboard shows a clear progression bar for each course.

**Milestone Cards** When your child reaches a significant milestone — completing a project, finishing a course, or earning a badge — you'll receive a beautiful milestone card that you can save, print, or share with family.

**Project Portfolio** Every project your child publishes appears in their portfolio. You can view, share, and celebrate each creation. Projects include a description, thumbnail, and the code your child wrote.

**Push Notifications** The Parent App (iOS & Android) sends you real-time notifications when your child completes a project, finishes a course, or reaches a milestone. You control which notifications you receive.

**Safety Controls** Review your child's activity, manage screen time, and control which features are available. All AI interactions are content-filtered and logged for your review.

Gifting a Coding Subscription

How to give the gift of coding to a child in your life.

KidsCode Gift makes it easy to give a meaningful, educational gift. Here's how it works:

Step 1: Choose a Gift Pack Select from monthly, 6-month, or annual gift subscriptions. Each includes full platform access, all courses, and a printable gift certificate.

Step 2: Personalize Add a custom message and choose the child's age range. The platform will tailor the curriculum to their level.

Step 3: Instant Delivery The gift is delivered instantly via email with a redemption code. No shipping, no wrapping — just a gift that lasts months.

Step 4: The Child Redeems The recipient enters their code, creates a free account, and starts coding immediately. The parent's email is used for the account — the child never needs to provide personal information.

Classroom Best Practices

Tips for integrating KidsCode Gift into your teaching.

**Start with a Demo Project** Begin each session by showing a completed project from the gallery. This gives students a concrete goal and gets them excited.

**Use Pair Programming** Pair students together — one "driver" (typing) and one "navigator" (guiding). This improves collaboration and reduces frustration.

**Leverage the AI Tutor** The built-in AI tutor answers student questions in real-time. Encourage students to ask the AI before raising their hand — it builds problem-solving independence.

**Celebrate Milestones** When a student completes a project or course, celebrate it. The platform generates milestone cards that parents love. Recognition motivates continued learning.

**Weekly Progress Reviews** Spend 5 minutes at the start of each week reviewing the class dashboard. Identify students who are falling behind and offer extra help.

**Connect to Other Subjects** Coding isn't just for CS class. Use KidsCode Gift projects to teach math (coordinate systems in games), writing (story-based projects), and science (data visualization).
